Registration Assistance Requests/Payment Plans: OLG’s CYO Boys Basketball & Cheer program is self-funded and does not utilize parish funds for operating costs. To ensure financial stability is sustained the boys’ basketball & cheer program is able to support a finite number of hardship registrations/payment plans for the current season. Registration assistance requests/payment plans are reviewed by the OLG CYO Boys Basketball & Cheer Board and awarded following the Oakland Diocese policy for prioritizing player registrations:
1. Our Lady of Guadalupe School Students
2. Our Lady of Guadalupe Religious Education Students who are current students and were students in the 2015-2016 Year
3. Children who live in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish boundaries*
Player Drafts: There are no drafts for cheerleading. Squads are split into grade level squads
It is the intent of the program to have children play in their own grade division. Players may be given the opportunity to play up one grade to fill teams with less than five-eight cheerleaders. This opportunity will only be granted upon review and approval by the OLG Cheer coaches and director. The 3rd grade squad will be comprised of players who attend 3rd grade at the time of the final registration date. Players in Grades 1 and 2 will play on 3rd Grade teams. Kindergarten interested cheerleaders will be accepted upon evaluation and will be assigned to a “waiting list” and will be placed on a 3rd grade squad with less than 8 players.
SAFE ENVIRONMENT TRAINING (SET): All new basketball & cheer coaches and advisors must complete SET this season. More information on the online training: http://www.oakdiocese.org/safe/workshops.htm
Coach Selection: The selection of OLG coaches is the responsibility of the Athletic Director. A panel consisting of the Player Agent, Coaching Coordinator, and Athletic Director will select coaches for each team. Factors taken into account will center on willingness, past adherence to the CYO Code of Conduct, and needs of the program.
